DIY: Fish Tank Stand

 Saturday, June 16, 2012

I hope everyone had a great week and my apologies for not writing. It was one of those crazy weeks that unfortunately did not leave anytime for me or my blog. I am hoping this week will be better.

Most of you know that Zach and I moved into a condo together about a month ago. The moving process was very hectic and I won't get into that, but no we are settled in and we are hoping for some fun DIY projects. This is our first project and it could not have been more perfect for us. Zach has been an avid salt water tank enthusiast for the past 4 years or so. He has a small tank in the spare bedroom with crabs, snails, colorful corals, and fish. We have all of our furniture in their places and for the most part each room is decorative. However there is a space along the wall between the living room and kitchen. We discussed different options and came to the conclusion that we wanted to add a vibrant fresh water fish tank. It would be a perfect complement to our existing set up. On top of that, we wanted to make the stand and get the supplies through various networks. That leads us to the project.

Here is the tank that we got - it is 40 gallons and we were able to find this from a fellow hobbyist.
Here are all the supplies we needed. We decided to make 51 inches long, 36 inches high, and 18 inches wide

Zach hard at work building the stand!

All done! Now ready for some paint.

Hard at work painting!

I will post some pictures of the finished product when everything is done. I can't wait to share with you!

What are your favorite DIY projects?

xoxo
